BAPTISMS

The Sacrament of Baptism is a moment of true spiritual significance in the lifetime of a Christian and may be administered to infants, children, and adults. It is a tangible reminder of God’s grace and love for God’s children.

By presenting yourself or your child for baptism, you are reaffirming your faith in Jesus Christ. In presenting your child for baptism, you are acknowledging that you would like your child to learn to love Jesus and you are committing to raising this child in a household with strong faith and love for the Lord. As a child is baptized at First Presbyterian the pastor will present your child as a unique individual to the congregation, who in turn will pledge to help raise your child in love for Jesus and love for others. The baptism of an infant is your child’s first sacrament in God’s community and is a joyous occasion!

All baptisms need to be approved by the church’s governing body and in the case of infants and children at least one parent must be an active member of a Christian church. Requests for such are made in consultation with the pastor.
