The food drive is coming! Start now to get ready for First Presbyterian's August Food Drive for the Light House Shelter! If each of us begins picking up a few extra non-perishable items when we do our own grocery shopping, by August we should have plenty to offer to those in need in our community. The Light House Shelter serves food to members of our community who don’t have enough to eat. If it’s easier to donate money for groceries, make checks payable to First Presbyterian Church or give online under Mission Related Gifts, "Lighthouse Shelter." By providing groceries, you can make a difference. For questions, contact Susan Gross.
Families please bring your "critters" and join us in the church courtyard at 8:45 am Sunday, August 25. Cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, fish, reptiles, etc., all are welcome. This will be a very brief (and chaotic) opportunity to bless all of God's creatures. Please spread the word to family and friends. The more the merrier.
2019-2020 Taizé calendar. Taizé prayer, a meditation service of readings, prayers, singing and silence, will be held the second Wednesday of the month from September through May, 7:30-8:20 pm. Locations alternate between the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church and St. John Neumann Church (620 Bestgate Road). When downtown, parking is available at the Hillman Garage. Come rest in the balm of quiet beauty during this simple form of contemplative prayer. For more information, contact Rose Love (443-924-7049). The Taizé Prayer is jointly sponsored by St. Mary's and First Presbyterian (410.267.8705).
Join the Baltimore Presbytery's Guatemala Partnership on a specially-designed trip October 14-20, 2019, that will provide an up-close look at the forces driving migration from Central America. Experience first hand-encounters with those who know the human costs of this crisis and learn ways that CEDEPCA, our Central American partner, is responding. We will consider ways we might join them in their efforts. Cost is $1500 includes airfare, in-country transportation, all meals, and lodging. Financial assistance is available. Registration deadline: Friday, August 16, 2019. Contact the presbytery office to request an application packet.
Last year, Director of Music and Organist, Dr. Robert Muckenfuss, recorded a CD, "An Organ Tapestry," on our sanctuary organ. Sales of the CDs benefit the church Music Fund and may be purchased directly from Bob. Approach him after worship in the chancel any Sunday or email Bob. A suggested $20 donation is payable by check ("FPC"), cash, or online (under "music department").
Through Labor Day weekend, join us each Sunday for worship at 8:00 am in the courtyard and 9:30 am in the sanctuary. In the courtyard there is a red wagon with quiet activities for children. At 9:30 am, activity bags are available from the ushers. After the Time with Children message, children in pre-k through 1st grade may attend Children's Discovery for crafts and games. Nursery care for infants through pre-k aged children is available at 9:30 am only.
