The sacrament of baptism is usually conducted once a month during the Sunday morning worship service. Baptism is a special event in the life of a family. It represents God's unconditional love that claims us from the very beginning of our lives. Parents bring their child to church, where they publically declare their faith in God and their desire for their child to live and grow in our community of faith. At each and every baptism, the church community commits itself to nurture and nourish the child who is presented.
At First Presbyterian Church, baptism usually occurs during infancy or early childhood, though a person may be baptized at any age. In order for a child to be baptized in our community, at least one parent should be a member of First Presbyterian Church. Adult baptisms are usually conducted as part of the new member initiation.
